How was your 4th? Any good/funny stories?

I was called into work for an equipment casualty. The problem wasn't major but, it took forever for Logistics to locate the circuit board I needed to restore a control system. While waiting, I surfed MFK. I know, ...tough job. My salary, non-exempt income comes to a bit over $45/hr. Holiday pay is double-time plus 8. The call ran 7 hours from home-to-home. Double-time brings the hours paid to 14. Add in the holiday +8 hours brings my 5 hour MFK surfing to 22 hours of pay or over $1000.00 paid to surf the site. Plus, the trip was 100 miles round trip at 76 cents/mile.

Basically, our BBQ and fireworks were paid for about 5 times over.

Pretty sucky for me. By the time I dragged my gf out, the beaches were a total mob scene. We saw a mediocre fireworks show, from a pretty crummy spot.
 
had a blast, literately, 350 bucks in fire works, needless to say the street is trashed, as am I, paying a kid to clean it up. Wife smoked a large brisket and lots of snakies. My daughters boy friend proposed in the thick of it (he had asked for my permition(sp) the night before) got down on one knee and all, great kid. He make a good slave, err son in-law. proud of the man and happy for my daughter.
