I will (hopefully) be picking up a 7X2X2 200 gallon tank on saturday. I know a silver can get to around 30 inches and is somewhat flexible in terms of bending its body. Would a silver be able to live in a 200 gallon, 2 foot wide tank for life? And would 4-5 polys-most likely sens- be okay tankmates?

tank will be well filtered. 3 Marineland Biowheels and an eheim canister come with tank, and I may add a DIY W/D

I should also include that I will be buying the aro quite small at around 5-8 inches...

With proper care silvers are likeky to get well over 30". Yes they are flexible but the extra width will provide for a calmer fish. Eventually you'll look to get your aro a larger home but the 7x2x2 foot will work for a few years.

a 8x4 footprint.... but 8x3 would be fine....

The bigger the tank, the bigger the stock list :)

Wider tanks are so much more expensive than a "regular" sized tank. Seems everyone wants to claim they are custom and charge an arm and a leg for the extra 12 inches.

Just as an example.....an acrylic 240g is cheaper than a "custom" 60x36x24 (220g) glass by more than $1k. I couldn't even find a glass shop that would make one for under $3k

Have you ever thought about Jardinis? Less requirements overall.
