Just wondering.....a buddy of mine is moving and wants to give me his 1 foot aro....problem is my aro is a lot bigger but isnt aggressive at all.....Anyhow, just wondering, this would be a temp placement for the 1 footer till I can find a suitable home for it......if it is a bad idea, I have a small tank for it temporarily till it can be found a perminent home. They are both silvers, so you know.

According to my experience u can't keep that 1' aro with your 2' aro because aros r very aggressive towards each other. Even u never saw ur aro's aggressiveness u can see it by putting that 1' aro. Ur aro will probably kill that aro. I had lost my 2 aros by doing this kind of experiment.

Unfortunatly the only way to find out is to put them together, IME you'll know within the first couple hours if it will work or not. You need to have a means to seperate them before atempting this.

Good Luck,

can never say what will happen
try it and keep an eye on that tank for atleast a few days
its more like a hit or miss thing
some aros are alright and some of 'em are down right hateful towards new aros

I think I'll play it safe and toss it in another tank and see if I can find it a home....:)

I say give it ago or at least put them in the same tank with a divider ... a truely hateful aro will pound the separator - that would be your signal to look for another arrangement.

PS: i have seen a fully grown asian aro at LFS housed with a tiny RTC - to no detriment of RTC

Lucky you by the way ...heheheh a free aro

I think arowanas will tend to bully the new fish in the aquarium because they tend to freak out and try to eat it even though it's not for food.

I say give it a go. Be attentive, watchfull, but give it a go.

I would.
