I have finnally gotten my 220 up and running. I took about 70 pot scrubbies out of my 270 to use for my bio in the 220, along with about another 130 new pot scrubbies and about 150 bioballs.

Heres the thing. In my 270 I do water tests about once a week. For about 8 months now my tests have not been able to pick up any traces of Ammonia, nitrite or nitrate. I am sure the kit is working because I have found traces on other peoples tanks.

So the question is If i put the scrubbies in the 220 to cycle the filter how would I know if it is cycled already if I was not picking up any traces from the tank the scrubbies came from??? :nilly:

I assume you don't have fish in the 220, yet?

If not, simply add ammonia, until your test kit reads 1-4ppm (4 for fully stocked). If your tank is fully cycled, your kit will read 0ppm ammonia within 24 hours, as well as 0ppm nitrites. If not, then continue with a fishless cycle, using the link below, for whatever stage your tank is at.
