depends on your money. U realy cant beat 2 or 3 aqua clear ac500 or ac110 flows 500 gph fill one with sponges another with sponge carbon or them ceramic stones and another with sponges. if money no object fluval f5x
im probably going to make a diy ply wood tank.... i was looking at the fx5, also drilling it and have a sump, what do you think is better, mechanical, biological, or chemical filtration?
I use a pond filter from home depot it good for ponds up to 800 gal my tank is 300 gal the pond filer cost $75.00 and I just had to add a pump which you can get at home deopt of lowes cheap works better that the ones i've seen at pet stores and way cheaper
For a discus tank you really should go with a sump if possible. You need masses of media.
Basically what bomber said! The money you save compared to buying several fx5s I would put into automated ph from Dennerle if you really want to spend it.
yeah, i guess i was just being lazy lol diy is the way to go...im thinking about converting the storage drawers into a bio tower like ive seen some people do on here
