staten island new york
a bonnet head shark
a black tip shark ?
these fish need to be in constant movement. so how would u ship one

BTW they are about 18-20"

and if i was to drive to go pick them up... how would i go about this?

i was told you can put a tube in their mouth attached to a pump... it simulates moveing..
is this true?

the way ive gotten them to my house from the ocean is to either stick i high powered water pump in a large box trailor (sealed and water tight) to make water movment strong enough to make current were they lay on the bottom and dont have to always swim it simulates swimming and they dont stress tehmselves any more then already would be or weve had to stick a pipe into their mouth (not enough to drown them) and move back in forth to simulate them swimming also so far its seemed to work

any other ideas??

im not sure about airplane shipping tho any insights?

The water pump pipe in the mouth method is normally reserved for large sharks that are shipped in sling baskets. Smaller sharks are shipped in polyethylene bins in the 250-400 gal range. They're half-filled with water and have several 12 volt pumps fed off of a mototcycle or car battery. The top is usually covered with plastic wrap with a snorkle hole for exhausting pressure from the pump venturi valves. The whole shebang is mounted to a pallet and shipped air cargo. This type of air cargo requires early preparation since not all air cargo flights have available forklift trucks to load/unload palletized items.

so your saying to load this tub in the back of a pickup/van with a pump.... thanks oddball... your the man

If you plan on driving it yourself, keep in mind the weight of water and the carry limits of the truck. You're looking at a ton of water sloshing around the back of the truck. Keep the bin as far forward of the rear axle as possible or you'll lose steering control on bumps and going uphill. Braking will also be affected so don't follow anyone as closely as you normally do and be prepared to start braking sooner than normal when coming to lights, turns, etc. Speaking of turns, you'll be an extra ton top-heavy. So, take curves and ramps more slowly than normal too.

how much you think air cargo will be for one of these shipped from florida to nyc?

Can't tell you an exact amount. You'd have to contact an air cargo shipper for that. However, I'm sure you can find a surgeon to relieve you of your left 'nad for the deposit you'll have to provide.
For one 18-20" shark, this won't be worth the cargo bill. You'd be better off shipping 3 in a pallet-sized bin. Keep a M/F pair for yourself and sell the odd one off to recoup your shipping fees.
