Plants are various anubias, java moss, and jave ferns. Still waiting on the manzanite branches to get in yet to finish it off. We've been through a few stock ideas but cant see to land on 1 that we just really feel drawn to (we like several of them, just not one more than the other).

So in an attempt to get unbiased opinions based off of what we have already looked at, what CA / SA's would you build around this?

I'd do something like firemouths, servum, maybe sajica or rainbow cichlids, convicts arecalso a option. Most of the big boys will tear those plants apart

We'd thought of something similar on one of the lists, except with an EBJD involved. I'd just read about Severums eating even anubias and ferns so was hesitant about going forward with that idea.

Large open sandy area screams Geos to me.

With that tank size, I would go with a group of medium sized Geophagus like sp. Tapajos Orangeheads, G. pindare, or G. parnaibae or if you wanted a challenge, Biotodoma wavrini or B. cupido. This way you could still fit in a pair of acaras and say dwarf pikes with a large school of a decent sized tetra.

It's basically the same idea as a group of firemouths types with a cryptoheros pair and tetras, just south american vs central.

Looks good for a poly. Perhaps an ornate?

If it has to be ca/sa cichlid I'm a fan of the red spotted serverums. They have amazing colors, baby faces, and mild nature.

I have 2 sevs with anubis, swords, onion plant, and green tiger lotus and no problems. I even have a melanurus and 3 silver dollars in there.
