I will research them - the temperature in my basement may get too warm for them in the short window between spring/summer without the window AC in.
I would say the tank temperature can range from 60-82, which rules out most of my native creek species as it gets too warm. I can do a heater to keep the minimums up but a chiller is not an option.

Not sure if they’re available in the US,but an Aussie native, purple spotted gudgeon pair, would be cool! Any temp over 10° Celsius 
I am a big fan of the barb/danio+ loach set-ups. A lot of hardy options. I know many are found in a wide range of temperatures, just be mindful that some river fish are not going to take well to 83F. I think the common wisdom for a lot of these species is to keep them under 81 but on the other hand when I look at the area they are from I see the waters often reaching 85F in the summer.
If it was me I would try some golden barbs, kuhli loaches, and dwarf chain loaches. All three are found in a large range of temperatures and in my opinion are beautiful.

If heat is a problem and you mentioned a chiller is not a option i use to freeze a 12oz water bottle and drop it in my 55 gallon in the summer
