well if it's not apparent i'm new to this forum and forums altogether also note i have horrible grammar and spelling haha.
but anyways the reason i signed up for this is i going to attempt to build a "diy" plywood/acrylic aquarium. this seems like a huge under taking at first notice but looking into it more and more it basically comes down to numbers and knowing them. im more then ur everyday hobbyist builder i guess u could say i was a gm for a home building company that i worked since i was 14 and then i went into the military as a infantrymen and then owned and operated my own custom fiber glass audio shop. ive got the experience with tools and the know how and common sense to pull it off. never really had the time for fish but i just got into for my sons ( three boys 5 year old and twin 2 year old) i bought a 30 gallon aquarium and bought them 2 albino tiger Oscars and two jack Dempsey and two orange parrots and three Pecos and a craw fish well my oldest caught and introduced to tank l0l. i bought these about a year ago they all at 6 inches and bigger im actually feeling bad for them at the moment for limited space. i just built a new home and have been reading on large aquariums. the general plan here is in the kids game room i have a space that is 5' wide x 9' long and standard high of 8'. the tank im planning on building is going to be 3'x8'x3' which should give me roughly 538 gallons and a rough water weight of 4,500 pounds not including rocks and material it will be built on a concert floor l0l defiantly not a second floor install haha but yeah im looking for any and all info and pointers and plan to be starting this build with in the next month being as i work in oil feild offshore and on call i cant give an exact date but i will be posting pictures for progress and to get any advise as iam not to advanced with fish keeping but i think its got me hooked l0l no pun intended and id have to say my biggest concern is the filtration for it anyways feel free to comment
