how you acclimate your fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It depends on what type of fish I got myself.

If they are hardy fishes like Polypterus, snakeheads, etc, I just throw them in.

If they are tricky fishes, then have to acclimatize.

Just dump the whole bag into the tank with water and wait for it to reach the temperature of the tank. Then pour some water in. And wait. And pour again, and wait. And so on. Then pour everything into the tank.

Some people don't recommend pouring everything into the tank because the water from the LFS might be contaminated with some disease. But I don't usually care. The water from my LFS is quite ok so far. No problem with them.

With snakeheads you know they acclimated once you can send them out to fetch groceries and they rob the local 711

haha... That is for most snakeheads.

The dwarf snakeheads are a bit more timid, so its better not to stress them too much.

most fish i float for 30 mins and dump them in

all fish that were shipped to me get dripped

same!

Old thread, but I drip acclimate in a bucket, plus QT unless I know they are from a reputable source.

wow.. very old thread...

depend on how I am getting the fishes, but if it in a bucket, I usually just add little water from my tank and just toss the fish in like after 15 minute..

From a lfs, throw the bag in my tank and add little water from the tank into the bag and wait like 10 minute, toss them in..
