How young can cichlids pair up?

I just bought 3 1" Jaguar cichlids, and 2 of them were just lip locking and waving back and forth (like I saw my JDs do when they paired up). Are they just displaying themselves to establish dominance or is this "pairing up"?

Just sorting out the pecking order. No way 1" jags are pairing.

Just normal cichlid behavior. Not spawning at 1", I promise.

Okay, thats what I thought but figured I would ask just to be sure. thank you
