I plan on getting a 80g tank and could I keep a wide or thin bar dat
4 ropefish and 1-2 sengals?
all comments and suggestion are appreciated!:headbang2

Those are all slow-growth fish, so you should be fine for a while. You'll definitley have to upgreade in the long run though.

Agree with KSB, depending on how small your getting them, you would be ok for years. Good luck finding a small ST:(

You maybe able to get away with keeping a NTT in there for life, depending on the dimensions, but the ST can get up to 2'.

Good luck.

Tanks fine for the polypterus, buy as others have said, dats will probably need an upgrade.

how about this?
4 rope fish
2 sennys
2 spotted climbing perch
3 african butterfly fish
maby some congo tetras

Id like an african theme so thought this would be good
but I realy like oscars and bgk:)

In my opinion that should be fine.
If you want a knife, you could try an African Brown knife.

I'm guessing you're refering to Xenomystus nigri...if so, I agree...they stay relatively small (12" MAX).

Keep in mind, these are predatory animals so those congo tetras could be lunch...especially when the knife is out hunting at night. If you want to mix this list together, your best be would be to get the ctenopomas, senegals, or any other polys first because these take a while to grow, where the knife will put on some size pretty quickly. Once the tankmates are beefed up, then add a small knife...but I would still keep an eye on him. ;)

I was going to say that.
Knife + congo tetras = Knife food.

The Oscar grew too fast, it ate the dats :P

LOL...exactly. It's simple math, but it's undeniable. :D

Probably...along with the tetras, the ctenopomas, and the butterflyfish. ;)
