Hplarchus pair

hey,
my name is yoav, and i am new user in this web.
my english is no so good, so sorry for Spelling misteks and etc.
i have 324 liter tank with one agressive Adult male 30 cm.
About one mount ago i bought an adult female 23 cm and put them together.
also i placed a Partition (barrier ) because this male kill my last female.

now i want to breed them, but when i open the partition the male attack the female immediately.
i try it about 4 times, and allways the same result.

what i can do for breed them?

****the female laid ages once without a male, not in my aquarium.

That doesn't sound like a huge tank for the size of the fish. With only two fish in there the males aggression is going to be 100% focused on the female. If you could put them together in a larger fish with some other fish it would help spread the aggression and perhaps give the pair a chance to bond. You can also spawn them through a divider with a strategically placed powerhead, if they're keen enough. I've never kept hoplarchus, this is all just standard cichlid advice.


Your English isn't bad either, better than many native speakers in fact!

Welcome to forum, Yoav.
Hoplarchus are beautiful large cichlids and they often grow another 5cm than yours are now.
A much larger tank is normally used for them. To attempt breeding a pair they need much more room.
There are several people here with experience keeping them. I'm sure you will get replies and help from them soon.

i don't have biger tank now, at least i would like to do a big change.

what about PVC tubes its can work? like hiding place for the female from the male...
and also put some big plastic pots?
