Anyone know if the adhesive is safe? they say any PVC/ silicone based glue is fine to use w/ the patches... as the pool is draining to fix the leak I'm wanting to see if anyone has used the specific patch kits or if they used another adhesive for the patches?

Just take the time now to throw a 45mil epdm over the whole thing. If ur pool is 10' get a 15'x15' liner and ur good to go. More holes will come in the future. Stock intex liners are extremly flimsy and id never trust one. My friend has the 15'er and his cats poke holes right through almost daily, he uses the standard adhesive patch kits that come with the pool but its not a final solution imo.

Chlorine in you tap water is human safe but will kill your fish.

Not sure on the adhesives.
That's true if the level is high. Its never killed any of my fish and I do 75% water changes without dechlor. There's a patch that uses no cement just peel and stick made to seal PVC material. Will even stick underwater no need to drain the pool.

I have had it wipe out $1000 in saltwater fish in mins. Your lucky.

As to the patch, it may be fish safe but I agree that it is a waste of time. I have used patches on my waders hunting and they have the same peel and stick. Junk. I still get wet. I would do the pond liner. More money but in the end it is worth it.

For some more assurance for using a 45mil epdm...thats what i have in my 12' intex thats has housed 8 24-36" tsn and one 16" ss turtle for going on 2 years with no leaks. My friend has been through 4 pools in the past 3 years just using the stock intex liner. He also tried moving his pool and the liner pretty much just tore apart (exploded) when we went to refill it. I know you also house rays and gar so i would really consider even using a 60mil or thicker epdm just to be safe. Very pricey but not as expensive as replacing all ur fish if the whole thing drains while ur not home :(. A 15'x15' 45mil epdm should be around $200 or less so its not that bad of an investment.

Yep, we've been waiting to get a good deal on one.. but we have one in the mail as of yesterday lol... was trying to save some money... we did end up using the self stick patches and I'm just hopeful they hold until the liner gets here. plenty of people have said they've had no issues w/ the stock liner so I figured we would be good.. silly me...

and we discovered HOW the pool started leaking... we had the pump on the bottom pumping the water up and into the filtration... well sand got between the pump and the liner apparently and the sand poked a crap ton of tiny holes into it.... I expected it to be a puncture from the cats or gar or rays... not the sand and the pump... so we have a sponge underneath the pump now where the patch is to disperse the vibrations ect... blah...

Wow! Im amazed it was just the sand/pump thats crazy...i figured one of ur rays got through aswell lol...exellent news on the liner being in the mail already!! Hassle to pull everyone out temporarily but well worth it in the end.
