i have a 120 and a 30 gal, in my 30 gal my lobster died and i was away for xmas for 3 days when i got home my whole house smelled so bad the water was so cloudy i couldn't see the bk tank wall, anyways i did 3 water changes that day and the smell was still there i couldn't get rid of the smell, 3 of them died cause of the water, so i took all fish and put them in a 20 gal i borrowed i drained all water and then refilled tank, and the smell is still there, i talked to the pet store, they said since the fish are all out i can take a couple cap full of bleach and pour it in tank and that take care of the smell, can i do this and if i do, do i have to drain all water again to fill it bk up or can i wait a few more days and put fish bk in the smell is beyond the smell of death makes eyes water

It got that bad within 3 days? They must have died the moment you got out the door.
Sorry for your loss.
Adding bleach will most likely just cover the smell. And you won't want to leave it in there. More than likely, the fumes have permeated your house (curtains, carpet, furniture, etc). I hate to say it, but I think you're in for a big cleaning project.

I think that you best bet would be to use the bleach to clean it just just drain and rinse well befor refilling that should take care of the tank. The rest of the house, I'd use a TON of fabreeze the stuff works pretty well.

ty well it was 3 night 4 days and he was like 8 inches long i just bought him that day i left he was doing fine when i left, i think the fish killed the lobster that night there was a few jack dempsey in the tank i thought everything would be fine but guess not, and thank you
The smell could be coming from your filter. It may also be the reason why your water soured so badly and so quickly. Make sure that you aren't having problems with the filtration before you bleach everything.
Why would you buy something new and way different and then go on vacation?? Seems like that is the lesson learned!scb56055b;4749431;4749431 said:
