Huge new fish

I've just got a huge new fish can't remember what it was in the shop can anyone identify it for me so I can do some more research on it? I was told to feed him on strawberrys and lettuce

Giant gourami. Hope you have a very large tank, these guys get well...giant. And looks like he is already getting there.
I would recommend trying to get him onto a good pellet of food like hikari, they need a balanced diet not just strawberrys and lettuce. Those things should be treats, not the only food offered.

He's currently about 1.5ft and is apparently 18 years old I've got 125 gallon at the minute think I may need a bigger tank and a better filtration system now! Got some pellets I can give him one of the biggest fish I've owned by far he has some scarring from a previous owner on his head unfortunately though
