I was working at a clients house today who had a pond with a huge RTC and albino channel cat in it. I would say atleast 30"+ on both of them.
Anyways I see him feeding the really large floating pellets and asked him what he fed his beast and he said dry dogfood.:eek: I was like WTF? and he said he feeds a varied diet but as a staple he feeds dog food made with catfish.

Has anyone else ever heard of this? I thought it was weird to say the least.

Cat fish in the wild eat anything, so I guess dog food would be very good for it, lots of vitamins ect, and maybe even give them a nice shiny coat. lol

Yes, it's the $20. per YEAR diet, as opposed to $40 a month, for feeding big guys. Cat food too. But you have to remember to vary the diet, as dog/cat foods can be fatty if fed solely.

I use dry catfood which floats but only because the salt content is much lower than in dog food.

Wonder if the canned stuff would work as long as you washed the chunks off first?
