Hey guys so I am thinking about getting some beefheart to feed my erythrinus sp. peru once or twice a week. He is kept though in the same tank as 3 Hujeta Gars. They are 2-3 inches. I saw on seriouslyfish that beefheart is bad for them. Is this in large quantities or just at all? If they were to get some of it would it be a cause for concern? Like I said it would only be twice a week at the most, but I sure dont want to do anything to hurt them. Also, I was told when ordering them they were a bit bigger than they actually are, so if they did eat it and it helped them bulk up that would be a good thing. Im watching the wolf and so far there hasnt been any aggression, but I am still a little nervous. He is 3 1/2 to 4 inches, but is much thicker than the Gars. thanks!

It should be ok but as long as the diet is varied then it's ok. At their current size would just cut back. Once the fish's slow down then reduce the feeding times. There's a lot of fat content in it and can lead to accumulation in the organs and cause early death. Maybe just 1-2 times per month instead for long term and future.

The wolf should leave the gar alone. Despite girth. Keep an eye out.
