spirulina pellet isnt enough nutrition. you can use those to supplement a better diet, sure. these are predators. feed them a diet higher in protein like a quality cichlid pellet or massivore delite. please research the care of these fish.

cut up market shrimp, fish filets, nightcrawlers......these are what i feed my hujeta. once in a whilt some freeze dried krill.

as for growth rate, my pair doesnt seem to have grown much in the 8ish months that i have had them, but they are active and healthy

I have had 4 and they all went from around 2-3" to a good 6-7" in the first year. But after the 7" range they have all but quit growing for the last 2 years.

I am down to 2 after 2 of them jumped out. And one of them has scattered eggs twice in the last year. But no action yet.

All my predators get live foods.

they do have slow growth rates, but they are carnivores!
they need the protein and calcium.
not spirulina pellets.

what size do these fish get as adults? maybe mine has reached its full size. its about seven inches...

10-12" max

Grow fairly quickly up to 7" and then maybe .5-1" a year after that.

You are feeding vegetable matter to a carnivore and don't understand why it doesn't grow? Holey moley!

pretty much any "prepared food" is going to be mostly wheat and corn products with some fish based protein component, but even that would be a huge improvement over a vegetarian diet.

Seriously, get some fish, chop it up, toss it in. Shrimp, krill, scallops, road kill... anything that is MEAT based will be a vast improvement.
