say wha?? LOL, welcome buddy, I am in the PHX also. Cool little guys, do not get very big, ugly little beak, fun to feed guppies, and fairly common. anything in particular you want to know?

thanks can i keep them with cichlids and can i feed them pellets

should be able to keep them with cichlids as long as the other fish are not big enough to swallow one. Also, they are not true gars but rather a member of the Charican family. You can pellet train almost anything LOL.

First thing I guess to let you know is they're not true gars they're actually a Characin. So your more likely to get better help in that section. I wouldn't worry though I imagine the MOD's will move it there in short order. Other than that mixing with cichlids would not be a good idea. The hujeta gar might be able to be comm.'ed with extremely peaceful cichlids ie: Geo's and such.
