None here, I just had to tell you one thing...

"Thats one heck of a system you got there!"

I dont know anything else about you , except I will put money on two things being true about you.

#1 - you dont have kids.....There is no way you could have kids....

#2 - If you are married, your wife tends to spend most of her time upstairs, and has given up her attempt to control your fish keeping habit via reason and arguement, and is now very calm and patient every time you look at stock tanks

As none have answered you question yet, I will keep the ball in play with a bump.....

I have a bunch of aquariums in my basement too, and when I added a pond for a short time last winter I noticed a problem with the household air right away.
now I had already a dehumidifier going and two fans, and it was the middle of the coldest part of the year for where I live so I knew that if I had a problem then , that come the wetter spring and summer I would be seeing mold growing all over the house!

I thought about getting a 2nd dehumidifier to handle all the humidity but a better idea was to move the pond to an out building/porch where the problem can be handled by just opening a window.

In the winter next year Im just going to have to not have the indoor pond in the basement , or get that 2nd dehumidifier

umm most househole de humidifiers are designed for walk in warddrobes. mabe urs isnt but majority are. aniother way is to get a real big industraial one that cost upwards of 2k+ in aussy dollars.

wtf else do u wanna call it geez and stop derailing this thread
Well you just made my 'list'

"WTF"..eh?....
Thats just so sweet to read, you really made my day.
Way to go!

"WTF", is a well known way to bring out the best in a conversation about,,,um,,,fish ponds?

(A check of the post on this topic will show you that I have tried to keep this topic going, not derail it at all.
In fact when I saw that his topic was not being paied attention to I bumped it up so that you and others could have more of a chance to spot it.
I listed my own situation thats close to what Mr John is dealing with and suggested my answer of an dehumidifier upgrade or opening a window to bring in dry air...I have yet to see a better suggestion for Mr John to try..I mean, wtf..)

thanks for the comments although if i can't control the humidity i don't think i can keep this in the basement. the funny thing is is that the guy that installed a sump system for my basement called to correct a small issue that was not taken care of and he is going to install a another dehumidifier that will exhaust out side the house i hope it works be cuase i just ordered a 180 gal. and was planning to set up another larger tank in the future. you talked about finding mold in the basement i am seeing a little growth in a few spots the thing is that it is not even close to the tubs. so i don't know what to think. i hope i can correct this. i have spent a lot of time and money to have a fish room in my basement.

Try an air exchanger. There are ones that you can vent thru a basement window (like a clothes dryer) or one that connects to your furnace. The furnace type can usually handle the whole house.

Do a internet search of "air excahngers" and see what you can come up with.

Most portable units cost as little a running a 60 watt light bulb!!

A dehumidifier is expensive and will probably never stop running!!

Hope this helps a little.

Larry

thanks Larry the new dehumidifier seems to be helping and is a lot like a air exchanger it exhaust out of the house and only runs on 31 watts but still a little concerned if is enough only been running a sort time now.
