Since everyone here is on a larger scale of tank i figured someone else would be in the same boat as me. I have a 240 that i recently setup in my basement( bi level). My home is pretty air tight. The humidity in my basement is pretty high, i topoff with about 4 gallons a day. Im looking into purchasing a dehumidifier with a couple of conditions. CHEAPER is better but i will spend if its necessary.... and works effeciently. I know those dont go hand in hand. Any ideas or help would be great.

Oh, forgot i dont want put in any exhaust fans because i dont really have the room to run a vent or place a hole.

Just check out craigslist.com That is where I bought mine. I probably need a bigger one though. LOL

In my experience with them (I've owned & used 3 different brands)... Dehumidifiers consume a lot of energy and create a lot of heat...

I would first suggest you attempt to minimize evaporation by thoroughly covering the tank...

If you have done so as much as practical and still wish to reduce humidity, in the winter months this may not be too much of an issue as you will be benefitted by the addtional heat. In the summer month the opposite may be true.

i actually went and purchased a humidistat and a couple of fans today. right now im venting with a fan in the window. the plan is to wire up some fans to the humidistat and use it to control the fans to vent so i dont have to do anything.

Yup , I reccomend a ventilation fan myself. Cheaper to run much cheaper. Also try to reduce evaporation with a glass top and so on.
