For anyone who's read the books or seen the movie, what did you think?

Did the plot make sense to you? The character? The post apocalyptic world of Panem?
Or was it all a bunch of soapy melodrama akin to the twilight series?

Discuss...

I'm not familiar with the books but I actually went to see the film yesterday to see what all the hoopla was about and here are my thoughts......The plot was simple enough and easy to follow, oppressed people being made to serve or entertain others,I liked that guy's beard, might try it,one guy looked like Lenny Kravitz and another looked like Stanley Tucci, wasn't sure if it was them or not. That's all for now as I don't want to spoil it for those who have not seen it yet.

The movie was good but all the books were much better. Thought they didnt really show the poverty of District 12, didnt show how much contempt Katniss had for her mother or the deeper relationship she had with Cinna. Petta should have lost his leg too! Worst mistake was not showing the mutilation beasts that were the former tributes....

Ohhh and yes it was Lenny and Woody.

For those of you you read all the books, which one was your favorite? I loved Book 2 the best :headbang2

Good topic.... I saw this movie last weekend and for the most part i would have to say that i enjoyed it. Although i havent read the book, i have spoke to a few people who have, and they said that it did a pretty good job of following it. Also, i thought Jennifer Lawrence played the role exceptionally well. But walking into the theater without knowing anything about the book or movie i expected there to be more action out in the woods and less time eating fine meals, dealing with the drunk advisor, and training for the event. It all came out pretty good in the end though

Anybody read Battle Royale? Goooogle it....

Spoil away!!! There's a warning in the title for a reason.

And Stanley...
I agree with the books being more elaborate than the film.... Always the case. As for my favorite book, Catching Fire takes it. The plot twist in the beginning, the new characters(who mostly get killed off) and the twist at the end all either caught me off guard or kept me thoroughly entertained.
I have a feeling the scenes with the pods and the mutts in Mockingjay will be cool on screen. Looking forward to the next installment of this series to come out on film.

One thing that gets me though... I'm not quite sure I'm sold on the premise: Panem emerging from a post apocalyptic United States. As a sort of parody it works and might verywell be brilliant, but otherwise it has me searching for holes in the plot..... Like the technology, seriously? Coal miners and hovercrafts? Crippled people being chased by biogenetically engineered mutant dogs? The regenerative salves and the phara drugs I digged though.

No, give a summary.
