So I don't have a very diverse cichlid list I've kept for a comparison but my little chocolate cichlid really loves food. He's about 2" and will full on ram my 3.5" red severum to get at sinking pellets. Is this what oscars are like? Anyways, lots of fun. Wish my other fish would eat like him so I didn't worry so much.

Chocolates and Oscars are very similar in behavior when it comes to their enthusiasm over food.

Lol sounds like a typical Oscar. Mine always splashes me when I open the tank lid and drop his pellets in.

He bit my finger the other day! Stuck it in and wiggled it to get their attention and this little 2" fish made his move.

He's also fantastic at geometry or something... He'll swim in a line and in a single swoop get 3 different pellets

Hope this isn't to far off topic. But why are they called Chocolates? The ones I see are yellow red and green. Do they turn brown at some stage or is it for another reason?

When their young they are completely brown more or less. When they get older it's still generally earth colors like maroon and olive green.

cool thanks. Been wondering about that for a while now.
