and know about my pbass situation. He is now growing well, and eating more than all of his tankmates combined. The thing is, he is downing 4 or 5 guppies in the morning, and another 3 or 4 at night. At first I thought the bichirs were getting some, but I just saw the little guy eat 5 guppies, each at least 1/4 his size. His belly is bulging, and he looks hungry for more. Should I dial down how much he is taking in, or feed the little pig til he can hardly swim? BTW, he is looking great, and all of his scars are healed up. He had a moderate case of fin rot, and it is not only gone, but his caudal fin is almost totally grown in.

He will eat till he pops. I think you may need to monitor how much you feed him.

you think he will kill himself?

?

You need to restrict his diet a little. You should only feed what can be consumed is 3-4 minutes. He will always act hungry if he is healthy.

I feed my pbass as much as they'll eat. I leave rosies in the tank for them as often as I can. I have never had a pbass overeat until death. Until he starts looking FATTY and obese, I don't think you have much to worry about. Also the higher the temp is the faster he will digest his food and use the calories he intakes.

lol, he eats ALL the guppies in less than 3 minutes. The temperature is around 81, and all my other fish are healthy

I have 3 orinos and a payara (they're the ones that eat the feeders) in a 75g. I drop in one by one until I've got a 5 or so swimming around that didn't get smashed as soon as they entered the water. Those normally get eaten within 30 seconds of being in the water. Then I put another 20 or so in for them to continue munching on. They get very very fat, but within a few hours their bellies are gone and they're ready for more.

that's exactly what mine are like. I fill them up, and by the end of the day the lump in their bellies are gone! How many times do you feed daily?
