About a week ago i added a 2nd RTC to my 265 gallon basement tank and didnt really know what to expect, well today i found out. My 1'st RTC is about 4". He's been in the tank about 6 weeks and was doing fine. I want to raise 2 of these together so i found a nice $15 3" RTC and threw him in. They got along decent from what i could see but this morning my son chris yelled up......Dad one catfish is eating the other !!!! The little guy was hanging out of the others mouth by about 2 whiskers!!! We caught it quickly and seperated the two with not much more than some ruffled fins, but who would think ??? I was ready for some rumbling but not this. There is MAYBE a 1/2" difference between the two  I've kept RTC's for over 15 years and have never had this happen. If this is any indication......I can assume my 4" will try to consume anything its own size ???? Meaning as it grows so does his lunches ??? Is one just tougher than the other, Should i try a slightly larger RTC ??? I took out my 6" TSN because it looked like he could eat my RTC's. Looks like i'm in for a long winter !!!

well i belive that was the right choice to do in the first place, was to get bigger red tails together. because i know stories of other people who did somthing like this.

And also who and what type of person buys more than one rtc in one time!!!?? :screwy:

Baby Rtc don't know anything or nor know any better. so the first thing it does is just eat everything.

sorry about hearing your RTC the gotten ate up.

Actually i bought 3 at one time :screwy: My local pet shops are a train wreck and i can buy half dead RTC's for $5 at times .They usually recover nicely when given good conditions. I currently have 4 so no more for me :D

The little guy that almost got eaten is doing fine, He's living in my 55 gallon sump and growing like a weed. I'm trying to get him a little bigger than the other guy before i try that again
