Ya sure can't beat the price. And it is a new dimension to the hobby when you collect stuff on your own. Each piece has its own story and that gives it more character. There isn't much pride in "found it at walmart".

Two other things:

Next time make your cuts so that the piece is larger than your tanks. When you get home, you can make precision cuts to make it look like it is growing into or out of the sides of your tank. Also, root systems look super cool as drift wood.

The other thing is when taking pictures with a flash that involves a reflective object (the fish tank), take the pic at a slight angle so that the flash is reflected at a direction away from the camera. This will minimize the flash in the picture and allow what is in the tank to be seen. Try it, you will be amazed.

thank you...

I would have liked some wannabe mangrove wood but this is the best selection i found round here...It worked out to my liking... it will look better when i add more caves, and plants!!!!!!

well it was worth it, although it took 3 different adventures to find the piece, and another to saw it off for 3 hours in a sunshower, i saved 80 bucks and got some fresh air, and found a SWEEET beach i could party on with my college buddies... The best places to go in my experience for driftwood would be the sides of lakes, and thew sides of rivers.. but my favorite pieces of wood so far have come from a sandy beach on a river.. Good luck and im pumped i got a 80$ piece of wood for no shipping costs and for a storyt o tell, even though everyone thinksim a nut!:hitting: :hitting: :hitting: :hitting: :barf:

Get a canoe and scope out the sides... Water cant be too private, and i dont think anyone but us Mfk members would mind if someone did come on their property to take driftwood...haha

Get a Sixer and walk around in the woods if you have to...

Are you sure that's not a petrified octopus? LOL Nice wood!

see thats the trick, we dont have alot of river side access (levees and ports), def no beaches. People have private property on the good lake sides so no luck there either.

You cant be nuts if you found a nice piece and place to party, just for the 3hrs in a sunshower sawing. :screwy:

There is a bunch of driftwood around the Davis Pond outlet on the river, but I get most of mine in the rivers and creeks of Mississippi.
