So, today I implemented another part of my plan for my poly tank and introduced 6 congo tetras. Once in the tank they were a lot more skittish than I expected but I thought they would settle down after a while. An hour later they didn't seem to be settling but I put it down to them been wild caught. Neither the polys or ctenopoma seemed to be bothering them but they remained huddled in a really tight group, not swimming around exploring. I began to have some doubts as the evening wore on so I made sure I put plenty of food in. The tetras didn't eat or even look interested. As I carried on watching I saw my delhezi take a bit of a lunge at one of them. Then the ornates started hovering around while the delhezi seemed to be stalking them from the cover of the plants and driftwood :-O Enough was enough and although I was just about to go to bed I realised they were not going survive the night. So, enlisted long suffering partner to help dismantle the tank and catch them. They were actually much easier to catch than I expected (relieved to see the net I should imagine!) and once in a safe tank they immediately relaxed and started exploring like I had expected them to do in the first place. So that's a lesson learned. Hoping they might be OK with the polys once they are bigger but I will proceed with caution!

Yeah tetra are really easy to catch with a net, I don't think they're very smart lol

When I had to catch my silver dollars sometimes they would just swim into the net by themselves

I took this video early evening! I wish I had some of the more intense stalking later on but it's so frustrating trying to get shots/video of that tank due to all the reflections.

They're decent sized congos, actually. I wonder if they'll ever be able to co-reside or not. I feel lucky in that my polys don't even look twice at mine. I even have a couple of old kuhli loaches in the tank that pop out every once in awhile and when I see them I say "huh. well, good on ya little dude." haha

My polys seem so scent-oriented in relation to food.

Have you ever had any other dithers in there?

Not rummynose tetras! OMG they are incredibly hard to catch unless you have zero decor in your tank. They are fast!

Just wait until you get a Polleni...... man are they fast and smart. I've found that them and vieja are extremely hard to catch.
