ok i have found someone in the UK who is selling hinduran redpoints but when i looked at the pics they wernt realy blue they looked more like a hrp?con hybrid heres a pic. please let me know what you think and is anyone in the UK who will sell me some and ile pay i good price, also he said this i his adult breeding pair.

They look like Hybrids. They should show blue throughout. I have some that look like those above. The female is more drab. The male is a dark blue with a tail that shows red. I think they interbred with a con. They are in my cull tank.

This issue is that they don't breed true. The Flash could be washing those out.

yeah thanks for the fb i have asked him for pics and without flash, i dont want 2 say are these hybrids lol cause its abit cheeky realy but ill post the pics if he sends me the pics. thanks david

They look like regular cons IMO. Although they do have funny barring.
Some people pick up HRP's that aren't really HRP's at all, just blue strains of cons, which do occur naturally.
Since you don't know of the exact lineage of these fish I'd pass.

Things to consider;
Cost of the fish, would you be out alot of money if they are not HRPs?

Sellers ebay feedback rating, looks pretty good sells other fish besides the HRPs. If he was selling not as described he risks business from furture buyers because of bad feedback.

Quality of photo, HPRs pictured with flash may washout much of their blue coloring.

Have you contacted the seller with your concerns?

If you look through the feedback you can come up with quite a few people who have purchased the HRPs and are pleased. Their user IDs are posted and you could email them and get there opinions.

I would ask the guy where he got the adults from, unless he had them imported or was 100% sure of their parentage, I'd pass. I breed these from stock imported from Jeff Rapps, they've always had great blue colouration, no grey, and they lose the distinct barring as they get older. Someone brought some 'HRP' to the store I supply, you could tell they were hybrids straight away, so I know there's some crosses out there already. I'm not saying these ARE hybrids, lighting and conditions affect how fish appear, but I'd try to be sure of their origins.
