Hey guys, last weekend I picked up a female salvini for my male convict since he killed his last female. She is roughly 4.5" and he is around 4". I thought she would be able to hold her ground since she is larger. I kept them divided until this morning. As soon as I took the divider out he started chasing and nipping at her non stop. She isn't flaring or anything at him. Should I just let them work it out, or should I put the divider back in. Should I get some dithers? Maybe they just don't see each other as potential mates?
Any suggestions are welcome:)

Oh by the way they are in a 29 gallon.

Thanks

Ben

Your con is too small for her. Males need to be larger than females. Also your tank is too small for them. There's not enough distance the other fish can go to hide.

No, not in this case, the Con is not too small for the Sal. By the time he gets larger your Sal will also get larger, i.e. same story (or who knows, your Sal may be meaner by then). Imo, put up the divider and wait until they sort of pair up (they will through the divider). That or add target fish. Or both.

Thank You for the suggestion:)
