hybrid red jewel?

As screwed up as hemichromis is at present it is a tough if not impossible call. For example, the breeder could have used breeders labeled as two separate species but which could have just as well been; say guttatus, from two different lines. The roundness & placement of the mid-lateral spot appears 'cristatus-ish' but some races of guttatus also have this. Overall, the fish appears to be of guttatus lineage but hybrid? Who knows.

cool theyre guessing that it was a mbunas as they only have 1 red jewel but heres a list of the rest of their stock in the tank

-1 red zebra (5"-6")
-1 OB peacock (6"-7")
-2 large mbunas (4" and 6")
-1 red jewel (3")

Sounds ultra 'fishy' to me on several accounts= Malawi's are in a different family (haplochromines) & are mouthbrooders to boot. Malawi haplochromines will interbreed with wild abandon but this is too much of a stretch for me. Perhaps they had a hermaphrodite jewel!

i guess anything is possible. im gonna email to see if she has any other pics of the small ones to see if any others look different.
