Hybrid Rostratus females?

Hi i was wondering these fish are they hybrid rostratus females? they were sold to me as pure rostratus but they looked really strange their patterns. Could anyone confirm this please? Was trying to breed them with my male but my male showed zero interest in them. He likes to chase my dolphins around mostly and swims past these females doesn't really look at them much, he has always chased the dolphins around even before these females were added. Got 6 of these females. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

They don't look like pure F. rostratus.
The head looks like Nimbochromis or Tyrannochromis.

I could be wrong, but they don't look right to me. Of course the seller may not have known either.

Take a close look at the female in the vid below. Note the yellow coloration in her lips, head area, and finnage. Note that the dark bar running from eye to mouth in your fish, is not present in the female on the vid. The female in the vid is 100% F. rostratus.

Actually he knew full on they were not pure rostratus, long story short i posted a ad looking for rostratus females on CL. He responded claimed he had lots which were these fish said they were F3 rostratus are great quality fish etc. He kept trying to sell other fish to me when i told him specically i want only pure female rostratus cichlids. I didn't do enough research on my part on them so i bought them brought them home and looked up pictures and they looked nothing like rostratus. My male showed zero interest in them either. Confronted him and all his true colours came out. He said it was my fault for not checking them before buying which he was right yes. I was actually quite disappointed and shocked someone would scam me on buying cichlids. Never had any problems until this guy came along. Now i know to always check and compare pictures online and ask here if necessary.

I'm about to get this rostratus. Guy said this one is a female and she's about 3.5 inches. This one is a pure one for sure right? based on body patterns and her having no color and the rounded fins is a female at this size? unless its still young and small to tell.

I'm not surprised at this scam at all, I get the impression these days that over 60% of the cichlids available in LFSs or local breeder sales are not pure.
Unless you go to a well known reputable breeder, and get them shipped, your chance of getting real rift lake African o new world Central American cichlids species is very iffy.

There are still plenty of pure fish in circulation, from local breeders, and LFS. At least where I live. Lots of wild imports as well. This seller was simply an arse hole. Sorry to read that Plum.
