My friend caught this snapper in a pond by his house, looks like alligator shell, common snapper head, and I’m told has no false worm in his mouth, got me wondering do the two species cross breed? They are both very common in ponds around here!

It's important to be cautious when considering buying a hybrid animal, as there can be potential ethical and welfare concerns. Additionally, it's crucial to take into account the legality of owning and breeding hybrids in your area. In some places, it can be illegal to own or breed certain hybrid animals, or to transport them across state or national borders.

It's also important to consider the welfare of the animal and the potential health risks that may arise from breeding hybrids. Hybrid animals may be at a higher risk of genetic disorders and other health problems. Additionally, hybrids may have difficulty breeding, which can lead to a lack of genetic diversity in the population.
