Hi I have just bought a redtail/TSN hybrid cat. I was wondering if I should be seeing it eat or if it will scavenge. It hides most of the time.

thats common misconception. There arent any catfish that scavenge. They are all hunters and eat opportunisticly. You should do your best to feed all your catfish the proper food it requires for their diets. That being said. Your hybrid will be an eating machine. The other fish in the tank are future food. Im sure your cat is looking around and just contemplating the day it can have each of them as a snack.
You need to be feeding it shrimp, krill, bloodworms, beef heart, start now getting it on pelleted foods. Look up threads by necrocanis to see what you will need to be feeding it in the near future.

I got my rtc x tsn from a member on this site and it was in great condition when I brought him home. He went into my 700 gal.pond with good water and temps but still took about 10 days to acclimate and start eating regular. He now eats well taking worms,shrimp,scallopes sinking carnivore pellets. Wait till you can play tug-of-worm with a nightcrawler its a blast..
Feeding with the lights out and take out all the hiding spots. Let the cat get to know you first.
