This picture has sparked an argument on Facebook over the identification of the fishes origin
Im thinking Texas cichlid x amphimlops..
Sorry know its not spelled right

Agreed looks like a cross, possibly hoga x carpintis maybe, it's all guessing without knowing tho, never seen an amph with that blue speckling

Or maybe chancho X Carpintis? I agree it's hard to tell with hybrids. Or maybe the blue speckles are just a result of blue light reflecting off the scales. And it's not actually as pronounced as it looks. *Shrugs*

I said Texas cichlid x chancho.. is what I had thought it was. But hoga could definitely be it to. People make me laugh!!!! One guy said jack Dempsey x convict

The only way I know to test if it is an amph x is to stick your hand in the tank. If it bites you then it has amphilophus for sure. I would go with tex/amph definitely looks the part. Cool fish.
