I recently bought this aerator/LED:
http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp18372/si1924186/cl0/hydorariocolor4aeratorblue to get over the $100 free shipping mark and because I didnt have an airpump or LED's or anything.
I have a 125 gallon long tank, and when this is running (whether its in the middle or at either corner), the ENTIRE tank gets filled with tiny air bubbles that make the water look super cloudy and awful. Also there is a fizz over the entire surface of the water. Ive never had an airstone but if it makes the water look like this I don't know why anybody would ever have one. Might as well grow a ton of algae while all these bubbles are clouding it up you wouldnt even notice.
I do NOT recommend buying this unless you want dirty cloudy looking water as a result of aeration. Its also extremely stupidly designed - the led hardly stays on the bubble part, and the bubble part hardly stays on the enormous mounting suction cup bracket. The whole thing is HUGE (looks too big for even my 125 gallon) and has 3 wires that all suction cup to the side of the tank, 1 for the pump, 1 for the LED, and the airline. Very bad purchase don't ever buy it.
Does anyone have any suggestions of how to prevent the bubble fog and the surface fizz that I havent thought of?
ps i realized this became a bad purchase post as I was writing it...should have put it in that already existing thread.
