Hydro Koralia 4.... how good are they ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These are very good pumps, but 2 koralia 4s would be too much for a 125. The flow is dispersed because the opening is much larger than most powerhead/pumps. I use several different models of koralia in many of my tanks, and love how they don't ever clog.

i was thinking about buying two setting them both up one at each end and if its too much current then i am going to take one out and if i like the current one alone makes (in conjunction with a FX5) then ill take out my penguin 1140s from my other tank and replace them with the other koralia.

my only problem with going with the smaller one is that in the current tank i have its got 4 1140s at about 1400GPH total and the RBPs i have don't seem to even notice the tank is decorated well (see avatar) so they don't get the whole flow rate

I just want them to have a good current so they can get there workouts lol

ok lets add this (sorry for all the questions you'll understand in a sec)
the new tank will have a sand bottom and ONLY plants NO rock, NO driftwood it is going to be more then likly 3M coloe quartz (if i can find some) with a higher flowrate will the sand be moved around too much (I have NEVER done sand before, hence all the questions) or will it be allright?

what i want to have in the end is a tank with Great flow rates so the fish stay fit but not enough flow to disturb the decorations ( i am thinking of siliconing them to the bottom of the tank so they CAN'T move) or the sand I don't want sand to end up in my filters

hope i'm not asking to many questions lol

I like the Koralias! They are expensive, but worth it. The magnetic attachment saves headaches.

compared to the four powerheads i have in my other tank two koralias will be well worth it not only price wise but energy use too lol

i have found them in one of my LFS for 50 and in another for 72! and online for 45 (thats for the 4)

I think on this one ill be buying local which ever i end up with the 2s4s whatever its still up in the air lol

if it wasn't for the sand i think i would be better off and not have as many questions lol sry

dude just go with with two #2 ..thats will be fine......i got two #3 on my 225 gallon...its move a ton of water nice current...i got my on the back wall point down the current like the X keep all the poo to the front easy clean up ..took me a while to got it right ( not make the sand storm) but they the best power head ....
