I have a couple of 90 gallon tanks with wet/dry filters. I am thinking of cutting down on some of my fish and also getting rid of my wet drys to cut down of electricity usage. I have 2 power heads and 1000 gph pumps on each tank. I was thinking of using this hydro sponge V with my power heads. I would have 2 of these for each tank. I also do my weekly water changes. Would these by Okay to use. 3 of my tanks would have mainly Jardini's and B. Parrots. 1 tank has a 18" male Dovii, 1 tank for baby Flowerhorn growout.

Any of your suggestions would be appreciated!!!!

They would provide plenty of biofilter, you might have to step up the gravel vaccing for the bigger fish.

How long should I have the sponges in the tank befor I can take off the wet dry?

few weeks.... after the switch your gonna wanna watch your params and have a bacteria stabilizer on hand.... i took a tank down before andused a sponge filter as sole filter had too add some bio spira 3 days later but all went fine...

I'd recommend running only one with a powerhead per tank, and the other being run by air driven. The pumps cause them to clog easier.

With 1000gph pumps I'd try to find a way to direct the flow of the return and get rid of the powerheads...there are very low wattage 1000's out there...even running the w/d's on timers to go on and off seems like a better way of conserving energy...

Timers are a good idea. I am in the process of rearranging my fish room (10 tanks) so that is something to think about. Thanks!!!!!

Keep the suggestions coming!!!
