Hi'

Whats the min tank size for a Hydrocynus brevis? Are they ok with tank mates providing they're bigger than the Hydrocynus brevis? Also are these convertable to dead food? or they need live?

Cheers

Most people would say 8ft long, 3ft wide. I on the other hand consider 6ft, 2ft as the minimum, i'd recommend anything longer in length is better. If your balling and want to him to be happy get him a 900gal.

Cheers for the response, i read in PFK that they get to 16" max? my tank is 6x2.5x2.5 so think i'll give it a miss as i doubt ill be upgrading in the next few years

i have a 10 inch brevis in a 250 gal. i'd say give it a try, those fish aint gonna get that big in captivity anyway.

Cool, can u post a pic? At 10" there should we should be able to see the difference between BATF n VATF. Also, how accurate is the 10"? Looks way smaller than 10"

It is said that Brevis are fin nippers but I've never owned one. Also it is best to get all prize fish off Live Foods

Do you think these will be ok with tank mates that are bigger? Have a dat, stingray and a bunch of bichir's that are all biger.
I have tin foil barbs but understand these would need to go as would the oscar also in the tank.

It's hard to say cause ATFs are skinny when small so they could fit into tankmates mouths, what size r the potential mates? I would grow him out more before adding him with bigger tankmates, jmo.
