For a short period of time perhaps but it's not ideal for adults. Scombs have a tendencey to die of claustrophobia and a 12" wide tank will make that happen quickly as Scombs largest growth spurt is between 3- 9 mo. They will grow from 3" to 8" in this time frame (at least that's been my experience) provided the tank is wide enuff for them to achieve this. You'd be better off with a 75 gal. @ 18" wide but even larger and wider tanks would get you closer to successfully gettting them thru that growth spurt. I learned the hard way myself. After 9mo thier growth rate slows down to next to nil' maybe 1/4-1/2" a year. From what I've been seeing more energy is spent producing new teeth than spent on overall growth.
