Has anyone successfully shoaled H. armatus with H. tatauaia? I have 9 H. tatauaia on their way here and my lfs just got two 6" H. armatus in. Is it possible to place them together or should I put the H armatus in another aquarium or pond?

IME not possible. armatus grow way too fast

if u want 2 try then have a big tank w lots of different dithers

I do have several large aquariums but I may grow them out and put them in the pond in my office.

Gowth rates are totally different. My old Armatus went from 2"-16.5" in 10 months:WHOA:
I think it's a matter of time before the Tats get "Owned"

What about cohabing the two armatus together. I've seen other do it but I've also seen where one would kill all the rest.

How big will armatus get really nasty towards its own kind?

about the 10" range. after that, have lots of room and lots of dithers.

IME they mellow out at about 20" and do better with tankmates their own size...
