I will be going away to school and far away from home in the upcoming fall semester. I won't be able to take care of him so I am looking to have this one go to a nice home. It's been my pride and joy and my main focus for a while. In captivity, we all know have a good understanding of how big an Armatus or Scomberoide can get. The red tail payara on the other hand, has always been of speculation. I wanted to see, given the right diet and clean water, how big they really get. It'd be awesome to have a tatauaia almost close to the size of an adult armatus.
Anyways. I'm really hoping it goes to someone who has kept payara in the past or someone willing to take good care of him. He readily accepts any dead food. Will accept freeze dried krill, cut up fillets and pellets. Mainly though, while in my care, he's only been fed a changing schedule of Hikari Massivore Delite and NLS Mega Fish Formula pellets. He is pushing about 8.5" right now. $115 picked up in Germantown, MD. Will provide the rest of my NLS Mega Fish Formula pellets.
Note: the pictures below are the same tatauaia. The 3rd picture shows the caudal fin with white tips but the 1st doesn't. This one interestingly observes this behavior from time to time; I've never figured out why.
