Hello All,

I saw a Zebra at a special aqua-shop....they wanted 250 euro's for it....which is about 370$.....
I found out that they actually are endangered species and one can only legally buy from hobby/pro breeders that already are legally in possession of the Zebra...that is here in Europe.....
I was really impressed by the looks.....but that's just way too much money for me to spend ......
So I am curious...anyone has a Zebra here?
I saw 1 picture in the Pleco-photo thread....but it was a bit blurry....
Please let me dwell in your joy in having a Zebra !!

A few members here have them. I have had them before. The ban of zebras isn't just in europe.

Kept/bred a few colonies on several separate occasions. They, aside from the coloration, are nothing special.

I agree and I'm mad for plecs.I have had a trio for 7 ish months now and they haven't moved more than a couple of inches from their chosen den in all that time.
A pretty plec for sure but that aside not very interesting to watch. That being said they are probably disco dancing all night and sleeping it off during the day.
;)

I don't think they are any more special than any other Hypancistrus... the ban on export will always make them more expensive.

thare is no ban in the US for L-46s but thay go for big money

No, they can't export them out of their natural range... no wildcaughts available. All zebras now are CB and that is why they are $$ as it is high demand and low supply still.
