hypothetical Q about convicts

like i said, totally hypothetical, out of curiosity. I know that convicts will monogomously mate for life. If one of the pair was to die, would the convict then re-pair with another mate?
 
yes, you'll often hear stories of the male beating up on the female and sometimes killing her. That male will still mate if a new female is introduced

x3 hopefully its the male you need to replace though. sucks wonderin if the female will lay eggs(too young, infertile, etc) males will fertilize no question
 
aw... i have a pair of convicts that have paired up for a long time now and still no fry. now i think the female is infertile.
