Today, for the first time I noticed intensified color, shimmying and extended tubes on my young pair. They're approx 6 in male and 5 in female. I've had them since they were about 1.5 inches (last summer). Any experience from members with their prep & spawning site? They're in a 110 SA cichlid tank with a male L240, 5 red heads, a chanchito pair and Bujurquina pair. Moderately planted, pH 7.4, temp 79, GH/Kh 5/6. Just did a 40% WC.

Thanks!

I have a pair in a 90,they are little smaller than your fish.great parents I am not able to set-up a grow out tank.mine have spawned 6 or more times but the young don't last in my community.I have geo.brasilinesis, blue acaras and a pink tail.your pleco might eat the eggs before hatching.mine like a vertical surface, they keep tankmates away but not to the point of major damage

Thank you! I was wondering about a vertical surface like a terracotta pot vs a round flat rock. I have a a tc pot, I can stick in tilted and upside down. There's a lot of round river rock and driftwood already. Is there anything in particular, other than wc, the season or sexual maturity that may trigger a spawn? Mine are pretty mellow so far, so I'm curious to see what happens. They're a gorgeous pair, so I'm hoping for pretty babies!

I have read about people using cooler than normal temp. WC to trigger.I run my tank about 80° my pair used this rock, here one of the spawns.good luck hope you enjoy, do you plan to raise fry and sell them? I always love seeing cichlids raise and protect younguploadfromtaptalk1399810345349.jpg
