Hi I have a pair of Hypselecara temporalis (chocolate cichlids) who have got fry about 6 weeks old. The fry have started eating the parents sides and have made it bleed and the scales have lost there colour any ideas as to why or wot this is about ???

Thanks in advance

I've heard of SA cichlids contact feeding, but never to the point that the parents are damaged

It happens with Discus when the young are left with the parents too long, they will continue to feed off the parents body but start to do damage. Remove the fry from the parents, in the wild the parents would have abandoned them by this point but in an aquarium they have no place to go.
