The photo only shows about half the eggs (orange, non-adhessive etc). I took out a large antagonistic Pearsei (female?) from the tank 4 days ago and chose to leave a minor antagonist gold saum (lone male)...to get the pair to "unify against a common threat". These two began pairing up a few months back, but only today "sealed the deal".

I "guesstimate" 100+ eggs. About double what you can see in the photos.
The first photo was taken 9 days ago with better light & no flash (more accurate coloration) while the last two were today with a flash (washing out their color).

Mine are in a 125 with too many tank mates (7 silver dollars, 5 oreochromis tang., one gold saum male, 3 neets, & 4 hypselecara coryphaenoides chocolate cichlid). I cmplted a large water change (60%) and removed a big pearsei who was pestering them.

They aren't very large (as nics go) 4inch female and 5inch male. I picked up these two & two other (which turned out to be males) sometime around October last year. They were all around 3 inchs long and not very color full at all. Patience and a watchful eye-if yours are acting like a pair and begin defending an area you should be good...not too helpful but it's something.

The female colored up earlier then the males & stayed colored up until just after laying the eggs.

Pretty good colours. Not many eggs eh?

They are now wigglers. I plan to pull them out in a few days, I'll count them then.

What are you going to do with the fry?

That's an excellent question-I'm still housing fry from last year (venustus, crabro, azureus etc), so if history repeats itself they'll be hanging out in the same 180gal grow out tank:nilly:

I counted 42 when I pulled the wigglers from the cave-the parents are now guarding the cave and fighting off the gold saum again. Hopefully their pair bond will stay strong :)

Might wanna add a few plastic caves which will help reduce lighting in some areas. Make then feel more secure and eating more. Works for me.
