I was browsing TFD's stocklist and they have listed on there: "Stingray, Hystrix (Colombia) 4-5" for $80. I was always under the impression that true Hystrix were from Brazil and that is why they are so hard to come by. Are these guys exported from Colombia as well? I just want to make sure it is a true Hystrix before I pick up a few.

They are not the true ones. They are probably humerosa. Joe knows his rays and he would ask a lot more than 80 bucks for the real deal. He likes to use flashy names to catch your eye like guacamayan ring tail (flower ray), puma cat (humerosa or yepezi), and pear imatator or turtle (castexi). He has pics of most of them in the gallery.

no its is not a true hystrix. It is most likely some kind of common brown ray that is labelled as a hystrix to get it to be sold easyer.

weather.....some rays can live in the cooler regions of cali. i don't know....i wish they were legal in all 50 states.

last i seen from a place tha orders from them the 2 labeled as hystrix one was retic other was humerosa....
