I am wondering about putting my hystrix in to my 180 gallon with my discus`s when they get a little bigger.. how would they work out in 83 fahrenheit?

they would be fine at the temp. but i once saw a blind ray and was told the reason was because it had been kept with discus who had eaten its eyes.

Temp is fine so long as you have enough aeration, the higher temp does take oxygen out of the water. My main concern would be the discus picking on the ray, and eating its eyes.

True about the air I forgot to mention that

The discus should be ok with a hystrix I have seen larger rays eat the discus butt hystrix should be fine they are more peaceful

Had to pull my 2 discus out of my tank with rays...... they kept going after their eyes. Caused some serious damage to a pup's eye was afraid she was going to lose it for awhile or even possibly kill her. They were in the tank with the rays for 2 days. Not worth it!!!!

I will see how i go about it.. I will not put them in as pups, they have to grow abit first. I already know about the discus picking, but like with everything else i gues it all comes down to individuals. I have had discus with 5 rays before in a 180 gallon, with no problem. But i will definetley keep an eye up when the day comes. I think hystrix - discus will be a great combo if it works out.
