This place is killing me.. Im soo torn on the kind of ray i want, :wall: Im just wondering what the price range a hystirx ray goes for? sigh, what kind of rays does everyone have and what is the cost range of yours? Have any suggestions for first ray?

Motoros are good for a begginers and hardier but motoros can get pretty big. rvrays has an 18in motoro female and I saw her in person and she is a monster as far a size goes and and she is thick. If you want a smaller ray go for a reticulata, histrix, or scobina. They are not as flashey as a motoro or some of the other rays out there but they wont get super huge. I started out with a reticulata and mine is doing exelent and it is only 5in. Plus it only cost me $44 and a motoro can cost upwards of $100. If you have the space though then by all means get a motoro or something else but otherwise I would suggest a smaller ray.

whats the minimum size tank to house a motoro ray for life?
what about a hystrix?
leo?

im planning a 180 gallon, 6x2x2, dont really want to raise a ray , and have to upgrade tanks again, so im asking.

As far as i know, you need a wide tank, remeber with rays your talking width as well as length, a motoro will get to 14"+ so you need atleast 18-24" wide.

You would need at least 30inch wide tank for motoros. The tank I am planning on getting for my motoros is a 6'x4'x2', I still feel it could be bigger for the motoro pair I am getting but thats all I can afford right now.
